I'm new here at Worldwide Lexicon. And I need some help in translation, but I don't know how to post it at www.worldwidelexicon.org Can anybody help me please? I don't want to sound stupid but I just really don't know how.

Hi,

There are currently two ways to use Worldwide Lexicon. If you are publishing a Word Press blog, you can install our Word Press plug in. Then your readers will see an option to view and create translations for each post on your blog.

You can also use our Firefox plugin to translate any document on the web. Once you install it, you will see a blue globe icon in the lower right corner of your web browser. When you go to a page that you want to translate for other people, you just click on the globe and follow the directions from there.

We are working on more tools this month to make the process easier, and also to encourage translators to form communities around whatever subjects or websites they are interested in translating. If you have specific questions, you can email me at brian [at] mcconnell.net

Hi Brian

I have installed Firelex but it says Inactive for home pages.

For pages like this one I can access its menus, both left click, and right click.

How do I activate it for home pages?

Firelex is disable for home pages because most home pages change frequently. For example, a typical blog home page is updated whenever someone adds a new text. Firelex examines the URL of the web page you are reading to determine if it has a permanent URL (e.g. http://www.foo.com/archives/123456.html). These pages typically change less frequently, so translations will not become obsolete.

The best solution is for the website owner to use one of our plug ins or scripts to add WWL to every page within the site, including the home page. If this is done properly, the option to view or create translations will appear on every page.

We will be updating the Firelex plug in when we release some community translation tools, so watch out for news about that.

Hi Brian

thank you for your answer. We like to translate pages like Yellow Pages, Bank on internet and some SAAS (software as a service). The menues (GUI) are static but the content differs. What about them? Will it be possible to translate a web page partly (just those phrases thats in the lexicon file)?

Firelex is best to use if the page you translate is static (does not change frequently). Otherwise the translation may become out of sync with the original document. We designed Firelex to be use to translate things like an interesting article from a newspaper. For dynamic sites, it will be best if the website owner installs one of our translation tools, or uses our source code to create a custom built translation utility. Remember too that Firelex is in testing. We will be adding more features to it. One thing we could do is to make it possible to tell Firelex to allow translations to a home page. I will discuss this with Alexey. Thanks for the feedback.

May i have help to set up worlwide lexicon for wordpress?

I have downloaded the plugin. but i really do not know how to fill up the blanks in the "plugins/wwl lexicon" page.

What should be my WWL site Guid, or, where do i find it?

What do i have to put in the css post title path?

(everything where originally already filled up... In the WWL site Guid, there was my wordpress site adress, but incomplete. and another thing in the css post title path.)

Will it be possible to have the whole site translated (titles, links, posts, pages), maybe with the browser preference of the reader, or just the posts?

What is just now written as the WWLsite guid is: "httpworldwidelexicon.ning.com" (exactly like that)
What is just now written as the Post title CSS path is: "http://www.como-dueles-en-los-labios.com/wordpress" (there is missing "fr" at the end of wordpress and i cant change it: wordpressfr)

I would like the translations be contributed by the logged in users... But when I change and i update, nothing changes.

My site is a private one, you need to be given access by me, but maybe if you can help it would be a good way to help me without loosing too much time. I guess you should have others problems than mine.
